I have never seen a tire in this condition in real life, and I hope I never do.

HOLY SHIT. I would have left a note on the car saying do not drive unless you want to die a fiery death and get this shit replaced.

Ruptured internal bladder of the tire, I believe.

I see this pretty often working at a dealership. Customers come in complaining that their new tire has a bulge and it's our fault somehow. Regularly. Never this big though, that's impressive. When you take the tire off and look at the inside where the bulge is you can see that there will be a crack in the tire there.

You'd be like that dude in Russia who stabbed a guy's tire and when it exploded it tore his arm off.

Just be glad it's not a truck tire off a semi. I used to help my dad install tires at his tire shop when I was a kid and we always used a cage because of stuff like this happening.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I had a rim come off once when I was inflating a truck tire and trust me-it scares the shit out of you.

So if it's a new tire, I realize it's not your fault, but isn't it defective and the mfg takes care of it?

See if you can tell, what I am now.

I wouldn't want to be the guy that has to take take care of that tire, I'm uncomfortable looking at it and I'm no where near it.

I've only seen this happened to Continentals. Never another brand.
![]() 10/21/2014 at 22:12 |

It's usually because a customer has struck at pothole at highway speeds.

Lol I knew it.
Continentals are known for having a soft sidewall, drive on anything but glass smooth roads and you'll get a tire bubble. OE Contis are usually the worst offenders, I got a bubble in 2 tires only four days into ownership of my car, didn't hit any major potholes just regular, rough city roads.

Damn. The potholes here in KS must not be that bad.
